Open any
image with pleasing colors in your workspace. I'm using the photo
from the fill gallery named Cathedral in the PI 7 fill gallery. If
you don't have it and want to follow along exactly you can get a
copy to use here. |

 |
1. Go to
format/ dimensions, and unclicking keep aspect ratio, change the
unit to pixels, and enter 150 for both the height and the
width. |
| |
| 2. Open the Lonely Hearts image. |
| |
 |
3. Go to effect/ special
emboss. Choose the sample in the bottom left hand corner, and click
ok. |
| |
 |
4. Right click
and click properties. Change the merge mode to lighting. Click
ok.
5. Right click
and merge all. |
 | |
| 6. Go to
effect/ simple/ pizza slice mirror. |
 | |
| 7. (Optional)
Go to effect/ simple/ diamonds. With some tiles, you may like it
without this step. Diamonds makes the pattern smaller with more
detail in the same amount of space. |
 | |
 |
8. Go to
effect/ fm tile tools/ blend emboss. Accept the default settings and
click ok.. |
| |
 |
9 This step is
also optional. If you want a muted tile for a stationery background
or for a web page, go to edit/ fill, color tab. Set the fill color
to white, and the transparency to 30-50 %, depending on the amount
of contrast in your tile. Click ok. |

| I had so mch
fun making tiles using this method, that I made a set of presets
using them. These tiles also make
excellent ones for the triple background stationery and web pages
:) |
