Pearl Scallop Border

                   Scallop Mask

1. Download and save the mask above somewhere on your hard drive. 
2. Open a new single color canvas 1152 by 300. 
3. Go to selection/import selection. Click the circle beside file, and click ok. This will allow you to browse to select the mask you saved. Click open. You now should have a selection on your canvas. Right click/convert to object.
4. Click the stamp tool,  and the down arrow beside the deer. Select the silver ball.ufo stamp. 
5. Set the scale to 53, and the spacing to 76. 
 
6. Go to effect/paint on edges. This will paint all around the edges. 
Don't worry about the pearls at the top and bottom. We'll cover them up later. 
7. Use pick tool to click on background. click on the border. Now only the scallop shaped obect is selected, not the pearl edging. 
8. Click on the arrow in the corner of the paintbrush tool. You will see different types of brushes to use. Choose the Airbrush tool.
  8. Change the size to 40 and the color to a darker shade than the background color you chose. Right click on the color box in the attribute bar, click color on screen, click on your background color. 
9. Right click again, and click windows color picker. Choose a darker shade of the same color. Go to effect/paint on edges. 
  10. Use layer manager to select both pearl edging and scalloped border. 
11. Right click/group. 
12. Right click/duplicate. Use layer manager to select bottom group. Click on the transform tool,  and pull the sides out so the one in back is slightly wider than the one in front. 
13. Right click/Select all objects. 
14. Click on the pick tool then the Center horizontally button. 
 
15. Hold down control while clicking on the group in back. Right click/merge as a single object. 
16. Right click/shadow. y axis 0, transparency 70. Right click, 17. Merge all. 
18. Use selection tool. O soft edge, shape rectangle, fixed size NOT checked.
19. Outline a rectangle around two of the scallops. Go from one dip to the one after the next. 
In other words, two complete scallops should be in the selection, including the shadow. 
20. Right click copy. 
 
21. Right click none. 
22. Go to Web/shift image/150 pixels vertically. 
You will see a very evident seam. 
23. Right click/paste. Move the pasted object to cover the seam. Be very careful to put it just in the right place to cover the seam. 
Remember you can use the arrow keys to align items precisely. When you think it is ok, go to file/preview in browser/as tiled background. You will be able to see if it is seamless. If it is not seamless you can close the browser window and try again. 
Right click/merge all. 
24. Click on the path tool. Click the rectangle under shape, and then custom shape. Select diamond 3 from the shape library. Choose a color for your diamond several shades darker than your background. Make sure mode is 2D Object. Click and drag to draw a shape. 
25. Use transform tool to resize your diamond so that it fits within your pearl edges.
26. Click again on the stamp tool. Go to effect. paint on edges. Your silver ball stamp should still be active with the same settings as above. 
Now you have a diamond shape, and a pearl outline. 
  Arrange in the proper place on your border. Right click and merge as a single object. Right click and add a shadow.
Open rosefortut.ufo  and drag the image from its canvas and place it on top of your border. Merge all and save your strip.
